About Course

Communication, building trust and relationships, teaming strategies, and handling challenging situations are practical and essential skills that leaders need to guide a successful team! During this course, you will learn about self-leadership and to lead colleagues and align Centre’s mission, vision, and core values. You will examine common practices of leaders in the local settings and how they are categorised into the leadership theories in Early Childhood settings.

ESLP is a pre-requisite CPD course for the Advanced Diploma in Early Childhood Centre Leadership (ADECL).

Note: This course will be conducted via online learning.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course, learners will be able to:

  • examine Centre’s mission, vision, and core values in relation to self;
  • guide colleagues to understand complementary roles of all staff members in the Centre’s operations;
  • explore leadership practices in local context and identify them in relation to ECE leadership theories;
  • demonstrate strategies for building relationships;
  • demonstrate the use of effective communication with others and handling challenging situation; and
  • develop team leadership skills to work with a diverse group of staff members.
Upon Completion

Upon completion of the course, you will be awarded a Certificate of Attainment from the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA).

Entry Requirements

This course is for individuals who meet the following criteria:

  • Have completed an ECDA-recognised certificate or diploma in early childhood care and education.
  • Be ECDA-certified as an EY2/L1/L2 teacher.
  • Currently employed in a childcare centre registered or licensed with ECDA.
