NIEC collaborated with Our Grandfather Story (OGS), a local digital media publishing platform with over 500,000 followers across various social media platforms, to raise awareness about NIEC and highlight the meaningful journey of pursuing a career in the early childhood sector.

The second social media post on Facebook and Instagram features an illustrated comic narrating the story of Joel Ng, a current NIEC student enrolled in our DECCE-T (Conv) course. Joel, a former marketing executive with a demanding travel schedule, began questioning his frequent absence from his young son. Witnessing his colleagues’ detachment from their families further prompted Joel to seek a deeper understanding of raising children the right way, leading him to leave his job and pursue a diploma in early childhood education. Despite challenges, Joel committed to balancing his studies with his role as a trainee teacher, gradually earning acceptance from both children and parents, while being supported by his peers and lecturers at NIEC.

Embracing his new path as an early childhood educator, Joel finds profound purpose in becoming a reliable figure for children. He believes in the meaningful impact of his chosen career, envisioning a future where the children he teaches may intersect with his own son’s life. With confidence in his abilities upon completing his studies, Joel sees himself as a beacon of hope for the children under his care, determined to make a positive difference in their lives.
